Clutha River by Karin Barr
Clutha River by Karin Barr
This spectacular original glass work by Karin Barr is made up of a series of cast glass blocks that illustrate the flow of the Clutha River. Karin charts the river according to a specific location using GPS co-ordinates -46.238667, 169.748494 (this is located near the town of Balclutha).
The blocks represent the grids of a map while the flow of the river is illustrated in the carved lines.
This piece can be viewed from either side. One side shows the floating effect of the river with a polished glass finish while the other side is where you see the carved detail in a matt glass finish.
